Maestro Technique Lecture

Taking care of your skin is more important than covering it up.

Generally speaking, there are five skin types:

Normal
Sensitive
Oily
Dry
Combo

Sometimes, we have various skin conditions/types that can make the care process a bit more extensive than others. However, it’s really important you take your skin condition seriously and take preventative steps… as I always say, it is better to prevent than to repair. You are never too young or too old to begin a skincare regime!

From a cosmetic POV, the skin types are classified according to a few different factors related to it’s balance: sebaceous secretion, sensitivity level and hydration. The types of skin are determined by genetics but also affected by other components and changes with time.

Sensitive Skin

Also referred to as ‘irritated skin’ are more prone to react to stimuli which results in fragile skin, that often experiences discomfort, heat, tightness, redness and/or itching. Sensitive/irritated skin types are at higher risk of losing their (protective) barrier function; that protect them from bacteria, and infections. With such delicate skin, take extra care to pamper, nourish and protect your skin.

Dry Skin

Dry Skin is usually caused by external factors: weather, low air humidity, immersion in hot water but it’s temporary. However dry skin can crack, leaving it exposed to bacteria which can cause skin disorders: eczema, if not properly cared for. Characterized by a feeling of tightness, roughness, and itching.

Oily Skin

Porous, humid, bright appearance that’s caused by excessive fat production (sebum) sebaceous glands.
