L'oreal Paris Review: True Match Powder Blush

As a dedicated L’oreal fan, I have to share my thoughts on their blush. I used to shy away from blush in general, thinking it’ll make me look too red, thus defeating the purpose of color-correcting beforehand. Though, after trying some samples to find the right shade for myself, I fell in love. Adding a hint of blush gives you an overall natural and more appealing look, which many prefer. Plus, some rosy cheeks can be sexy.

I have oily/combo skin that changes quite frequently depending on the weather, which isn’t fun at all. Especially living in the south, the humidity is real. Thus, I tend to opt for powders over creams and/or liquids. L’oreal has been my go-to drug store brand for years now, so it’s natural for me to test their blushes before any other drug store brand.

A biracial woman like myself, I’m quit particular when it comes to shades. My skin is a deep olive that changes color quite frequently depending on the season. For starters, anything too light can make you look ashy, as well as anything too dark for light complexions, make you look bruised. So, I can understand how tricky it can be when it comes to picking the correct shade. But, before we get into that, lets discuss texture.

For $8 you get 6 grams of product, which should last you about 8 months to a year, depending on how often you use it. Considering the price and how much product you’re getting, that’s amazing in my opinion. The powder has a smooth velvet feel, making it easy to pick up with your Natural-Haired brushed or even fingers if you’re in a rush. The compact comes with a handy mirror on the bottom and brush. Application wise, it’s incredibly silky. Though, a little goes a long way. So only swipe once or twice to achieve the look you’re going for. Otherwise, you could end up looking like a glass doll. Needless to say, the pigment is up to par and am very satisfied with the application. It leaves no residue, translucent and/or ashy undertones. What i’m most impressed with is how versatile their shade range is. I personally wear C 1-2 which is recommended for shades Alabaster and Natural Ivory… very fair skin. I have deep olive undertones so the fact that this shade looks very natural and professional on me, is astonishing.

I would recommend this for Oily/Combo/Sensitive skin. For those with Mature and/or Dry skin, you would like this product too, but you won’t benefit much as your skin types need a cream and/or liquid blush that would hydrate and nourish your skin. Fret not, Mature/Dry Types, if you use a deep emollient moisturizer, you would love this product. Just take into consideration that your skin type needs some extra moisture when it comes to powdered products. Other than that, you’re good to go. Remember, any product can be used for your skin type (most times), even though there’s stipulations, it must be tailored to your skin type; thus application will differentiate depending on each clients specifications.
