Beta-Carotene | NovasGrandeur

What is Beta-Carotene?

The human body converts beta carotene into vitamin A (retinol). We need vitamin A for healthy skin and good eye health/vision. Beta carotene's chemical formula - C40H56 - was discovered in 1907.

The carotenoid is a strong antioxidant which protects your skin from free radicals (atmospheric pollution-makes skin dull) to maintain and ensure a healthy glow. In doing so, this also prevents premature aging from taking place, as free radicals are known to jump start the skins aging process. It’s a wonderful shield not only against free radicals but reduces sun sensitivity as well, making it boost the effectiveness of sunscreen (apply before SPF).

Beta-Carotene caters very well to sensitive, acne-prone and mature skin types due to how the formula is involved in the repair and growth of body tissue; skin damage, ulcers, impetigo, boils and age spots. Yes, this also means beta-carotene is effective in treating eczema, psoriasis and rosacea because of how it speeds up the healing of skin lesions.

I personally lean towards skincare that contains beta-carotene due to how often I wear makeup, the cosmetic products I use on my skin and weather conditions where I live. As a full-time MUA and Model, your skin seldom has the time to breathe due to how often you’re wearing makeup, SFX products for sets, etc. Sometimes I found myself falling asleep in my makeup (yuck), which unfortunately damaged some of my skin cells. I needed a quick pick-me-up, that also repaired and rejuvenated my skin so that its supple, soft and plump (for youthful appearance). Sure, vitamin C and collagen could get the job done, just not as fast as Beta-Carotene.
